Poetry Night
Join us for a special evening of inspiration and discovery through the art of poetry, the language of the soul.
The night will begin with a mini-workshop to guide us into the art of feeling into ourselves, and discover the inner spring from which our poetry can flow freely into the world. The creative process of writing poetry is a powerful way to explore the deeper dimensions of what it means to be human. Poetry can give voice to our silenced inner parts, and can offer us new perspectives on who we truly are.
In honor of Clarissa Pinkola Estes book, Women Who Run With The Wolves, we will pay special attention to what it takes to connect with the wild feminine aspects of our being. Regardless of sexual orientation we all have the creative, emotional, chaotic, sensitive and free flowing wild feminine nature within us… which often comes through in art, song, dance and poetry. Come explore, learn and listen to our communal voice as we share through the ancient and sacred practice of poetry.
$10 - $20 Donation to Support FemmSouth efforts in the South
Coffee, Tea, Wine, Finger Foods & Desserts Served throughout the evening
ATTENTION: You can just come for the poetry share at 7:30, information on the earlier scheduled workshop below.
*We want to offer a guided experiential exercise for participants to learn how to access their own inner poet (Sappho was an ancient female Greek poet known for her lyrical poems around 630 – c. 570 BC). In this mini workshop will use breath, movement, visualization, and writing techniques to start to explore the process of writing poetry. Please bring a notebook and pencil. We ask that you try to arrive on time for the workshop. If you arrive late, please enter quietly and take a seat at the back of the room until we can bring you into the group.
